Three Hundred Seventy Five Paws

Dear Brothers,

Morning greetings my small humans. The rain, is back, sigh. It’s that liquid sunshine time of the year. It continues to rain, rain, rain, all day long. I feel myself getting sleepy just mentioning it to you in this letter. There are times when I just want to enjoy the outdoors and not be rained on but, alas, this is the kind of weather that permits cuddles, snuggles, and warm blankets. So, that is just what I’m doing: snuggling in the blankets and not worrying about the weather any more.

This morning we were all so busy with playing, napping, and then baking. I kept checking for any morsels, but I was not permitted any muffin. Did you know that there are recipes that are just for doggy treats? Perhaps we could make some of those for me sometime. Maybe even for my birthday! It’s coming up, mid spring is my time of the year lil’ ones!

Three Hundred and Seventy Four Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello there adventurers! You’re both so busy each and every morning. Life is an adventure when you’re a toddler and a baby. IRB tries to keep up with you LDB but I think he gets a little bit overwhelmed just keeping track of you in the house! You move so quickly back and forth through the rooms that his head almost spins just sitting in one place! Who knew that tiny humans could move so quickly?

I know that IRB is working on the moving about business too, so it won’t be long now until he tries to run with you! That’ll be the day brothers, that’ll be the day indeed. I heard you and mama talking about what a long walk you had this morning in the neighborhood. It sounded like IRB took an “on the go nap,” and y’all went to the field, and saw lots and lots of grass, and trees, and trucks, and all sorts of neighborhood-y things. I loved listening to the details of the adventure. I guess if I had been there I would have romped around with you, but then I get to pulling a bit because I want to go follow a nose scent and that can be a bit of a problem with two tiny humans in tow.

So, I understand why we wait until the afternoon time when we take my. “Kimmy dog leads the way walk.” I like those walks a lot. They’re great fun and adventurous as well. I wonder what we might see today? Well, better go join in the nap business!

Three Hundred and Seventy Two Paws

Dear Sunshines,

Hi brothers! Did you see how I titled this letter? Do you understand the joke in a way… you’re both my sunshines! I am the earth and you are the suns. I love you both so, so much little humans. Today we took in some sunshine together. It’s been out, peeking behind clouds, and also out way high up in the sky the last few days. It’s been glorious to go outside and breathe in the warmth of it’s rays. Sometimes I pretend it’s summer time too. I lie down in a warm spot and sniff, rest my head on my legs and close my eyes.

The bugs are back out, flying and zipping about us. You had a bunch of feelings about the “shoo flies,” as you refer to them LDB. Occasionally they bother me too, but mostly, I just ignore them. Mama advised you to say, “Shoo fly don’t bother me, they fly by, I walk on by,” but that didn’t seem to ease your concerns. I think you’re becoming so much more aware of all of the things, the feelings, the doings, and the newness of the world. It’s as if you know so many things, but now the world can seem so much wider because you’re aware more, in a way. Does that even make sense little bro? Hmmm. I’ll wait and see what you reply. Perhaps you’ll write me a letter tomorrow.

Three Hundred and Seventy One Paws

Dear Kimmy,

Hi!!!! It’s me, Baby-I! That’s what big bro calls me, “Baby I this… Baby I that…” He tells me so many things Kimmy. Did you know that you’re a doggy? I just thought you were my furry sister, and you still are, but I didn’t even know that you were a dog. I’m learning about so many things! One of my favorite things that I’m pretty sure you love too is: OUTSIDE! I love the sunshine and when the breeze tickles my face, that’s pretty fun times. I also love to grab tree branches, and pinecones that are growing, and feel the rough bark wood, and flowers, and grass, and just I guess everything! The world is so wide Kimmy! What do you think of the world? Do you like outside too? I think that you do because you and big bro run around and around and play outside together and I watch you two! I think I’ll do some running some day soon. I hope so at least. I’m sleepy now. I think I might go snooze.

Three Hundred and Seventy

Dear Brothers,

Shalom! I decided to sing a Kimmy version of a song, inspired by our youngest brother’s name sake, Irving. As in Mr. Irving Berlin, please enjoy my thoughts on spring…

“The sun is shining, it’s a blue sky day! We’ve been enjoying the views all day. I hope it stays nice outside! It’s a blue velvet country sky. It’s beginning to look like spring. And I can feel my lungs take wing. I’m dreaming of a spring vacation! One where we can all play together too. Where the tree tops bloom, and children listen, to hear, spring birds singing too. I’m dreaming of a spring vacation! One you can hear and share all day. I love the spring air, the flowers, and trees there, to hear the birds sing all throughout the day. I love it, it’s a spring vacation, (almost), stick with me it’s coming soon! I love and you will love it too!”

Tongue out Tuesday and the cutest crossed paws.

Three Hundred and Sixty Nine Paws

Dear Brothers,

Chag Sameach! Do you know what that means? Happy Purim! That’s the holiday that comes before your birthday LDB! I remember that we had hamantachen cookies, books and songs about it last year. We did the same activities this year too! I like that I can feel spring approaching now in the wind when we’re outside. If you give the air a real hard sniffffff, you can feel the sunshine warming the ground, hear the leaves beginning to blossom and smell those silly squirrels scampering about. I never really knew the joys and delights of spring as much as I do now. You see, you both help me slow down my crazy Kimmy doggy running to take a breath and remember what’s important in my life brother’s! Thanks for that sweet guys. You’re both so innocently napping, it’s sweet and inspiring. “Yawwwwwn,” maybe I shall take a nap too? Who am I kidding, of course I’m going to take a nap! Haha!

Cutest doggy ears.

Three Hundred Eighty Six Paws

Dear IRB,

Happy Birthday sweet baby! You were born on this day. So early in the morning that, admittedly, I didn’t get up off of the couch right away. I could tell something was up with mama when she sat on that giant yoga ball and then was leaning on the counter and doing the deep breathing she does. Auntie A arrived in the middle of the night-morning time to take care of LDB and I. I don’t know all the details about how you came into this world, but I’m so glad you did. Mama said you almost arrived in the car, so that’s exciting! I think you must like movement and so that’s why you arrived so quickly because cars go fast, right?!

It’s been a remarkable year with you tiny brother. You’ve always liked my kisses behind your ears. I’m your favorite mountain to climb, and climb me you do! We go on big carpet adventures and you love to fling things around the house now. Anything that has wheels or rolls is a favorite object of yours. You enjoy talking to me in your baby language, blowing kisses, saying, “All done!” Oh, and I almost forgot, you’re really interested in pointing to things and trying to grab my ears. I understand that they’re extraordinarily fabulous ears, but as mama says, “Gentle hands to pet Kimmy’s ears.” You’re working on all of that, and I appreciate it greatly. Happy Birthday little one. You’re our little bear, tiny person, and all around fantastic brother. I love you!

Happy B’day Bro!

Three Hundred and Eighty Five Paws

Dear LDB,

Hi there big kid. You’re getting taller, and so much more independent every day. You love to play imaginary games with your toys, with pillows, blankets, me, you name it. Today we played, “Build an airplane out of magnets, hide it in it’s blanket home and then hide the tiny cars and trucks.” I observed these games from my lair, or nay, throne.

I’m watching mama right now as she types for me. I’m not sure who was making loud noises on the small street we share with a couple of other homes, but I heard it. I thought about barking, but then I thought better, it’s nap time. If anyone in our home were to wake up the sleeping babes, well, that’d just be plain, treasonous. You know what that means? That’s supposed to be an honorary line that one does not cross. “Thou shalt not wake a sleeping babe.” That’s rule number one when you’re a doggy sister like me. I know these things, I also don’t enjoy when y’all cry if you’re woken up, so you could say that I have learned a thing or two in the almost three years that I have shared our home with tiny humans. Speaking of sleep… there I go, off to dream land.

Mid-day yawns.

Three Hundred and Eighty Four Paws

Dear Little Ones,

Greetings, from my throne. Did you know that today was one of the most important days of the week? Well, it certainly was indeed. We rose before the sunshine, per usual with mama and daddy. The light was just peeking around the corner when I hopped off of my couch bed. I did some downward dog yoga and waited for mama to stop hopping around her orange mat.

Later, after all the morning shenanigans, we heard it! The garbage truck arrived!  You went out with your moose hat on LDB, you had your moccasin shoes on your feet and the mama helped to greet our truck driver. Our driver’s name is, Kevin. He is a friend that you look forward to seeing weekly. He always honks his horn for you two times and will drive up to be in line with our front door and share a friendly word or two.

You told him, “Hi Mr. Kevin!” this morning and waved a lot. I know all of this information because I watch carefully through the, “peek-a-boo,” window. Y’all might ask me to stay inside, but you can’t keep me from watching the action take place. I revel in a cause, and I revel in kindness that you bring to the world little ones. Keep it up.
