Four Hundred and Fifteen Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello! Here we are once again. Back at it with our letter writing business. Mama realized something the other day, there are more letter mailboxes hidden around some local spots than she had thought! For example, at this local grocery store chain known as the Fred of Meyers, there’s a mailbox! You might be wondering why this is so great, well I’ll tell you. We’re a letter writing and mailing kind of family.

So, with this being explained, we need to have the mail boxes scoped out for deliveries. These messages of love get sent to other human beans, whoops, I meant to say beings. I think I’ve been watching too much, Winnie The Pooh, LDB. Maybe we could find a new show to watch together? What do you think about that? I know that change can be rather challenging for you. Hmm, just think about it. No need to make any drastic decisions off the paw. I think I hear someone stirring, I must run and assist the mama.

Four Hundred and Fourteen Paws

Dear Brothers,

Birthdays are the best. Birthdays are fun. Birthdays exhaust Kimmy. That’s me. I’m exhausted from all of the play time. But wait a minute, maybe I’m exhausted because we’re always on the move? Either way, I’m going to take a nap. It’s been a great, but long day. I Kimmy, the dog, need some rest. Zzzzzz.

Four Hundred and Thirteen Paws

Dear Brothers,

I can smell the most interesting things in the outside air. Whenever I step outside I can feel the warmth underneath my paws and smell all the sweetness in the air. I’m pretty sure the sweetness smell is from the cherry tree too, but either way, it all excites me. I live my best life in the sunshine, as we all know. I love how warm things feel when I walk around and how excited all of the tiny creatures seem to be as things grow and bloom around us. The squirrels have been using the fence highway pretty frequently, and I can’t blame them for it. I do like to chase one every now and then. They’ve been bounding around our grass in the backyard running hither and dither to bury and search out their nuts that are mostly hidden away. Mama is not too pleased when they pull up the bulbs in our flower bed or dig in our garden. I try to help sooth her feelings by pushing into her with my back so she knows that I am her supporter. Occasionally she’ll flop over when I do this. She’s so silly.

Four Hundred and Twelve Paws

Dear Brothers,

The day has returned, we spent the entirety of a day in, sunshine! I loved yesterday. We had a warm morning walk as a family and I wagged my tail the whole way. I even wagged my tail when you rode your bike around me and the stroller LDB. I even wagged my tail even more after my bath with daddy. I haven’t had one of those baths in a while. Secretly, it felt really refreshing to have a doggy bath. I mean, don’t get your hopes up that I’ll jump into the bath with you each night, although at times it may be tempting, that’s not my goal little ones. It seemed like you had a splendid day in the sunshine as well LDB and IRB. Those tiny twin baby friends of yours played with you in the yard and I supervised from the window because I get a little rambunctious around tiny humans, as we all well know. I was fine with it because I was cozy on mommy and daddy’s bed, especially after our walk and bath time business. Sometimes I get really tired from the baths, it takes a lot of my energy to make sure I don’t knock daddy over when he’s bathing me. Speaking of which, I think the big humans are awake so I should probably start my doggy stretches.

Four Hundred and Eleven Paws

Dear LDB,

Hi there! It’s your best buddy, Kimmy. I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed our cuddle time the other day. You brought the blankets and pillows over to me in the family room. I was curled up along the slider and sunshine. You laid the blanket down and pillows and curled up next to me. So I did what comes natural, I laid my head down on your blanketed back and tried to nap.

Although, I don’t think your intention was to actually nap little one. You started moving and giggling and saying, “I woke up!” just moments after you had laid down. We need to work on the duration of these play naps. I can teach you an abundance about this. Now just listen closely, first you lay down and get cozy, second you stay lying down, thirdly close your eyes and sigh deeply, and finally think of something you really and truly love and keep that picture in your mind, then finally: zzzzzz zzzzz zzzzz. See that? I fell asleep describing it to you! Let’s practice now, ready, get set, sleep!

All curled up with my mama.

Four Hundred and Ten Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello! It’s been a rather sunny few days here again. Although, I think that the weather teases me, if I am to be honest. First it’s sunny, and warm and dry and then it rain, rain, rained, and this cycle has repeated itself twice. Mama says that, “Three times is a charm,” I’m not quite sure what that means exactly, but we’re coming upon the third time with warm weather so maybe it means that summer will stay again?!

Last night I was minding my own business and watching for daddy’s return out the window. I rested my body along the wall and stared out the window pane. Mama cuddled with me and took a photograph of the two of us. We represent the female perspective in this house. I approved of the photo, although most of the time I get up and move or walk away when she starts with the picture business. I don’t like it when light flashes near my eyes, or sitting and being stared at for too long. There’s something about remaining in one position for too long and something staring at you, it’s like that in the wild too. I know this basic canine instinctiveness all too well, I’m quite in touch with my wolf side.

Four Hundred and Nine Paws

Dear Little Brothers,

Greetings from my couch bed. I enjoy dictating to my scribe from the comfort of my blanket bed. I just know it’s going to be a great day when I can start it off by being left to sleep in. That’s always a sure fire sign that things are going well for me the Kimmy-est dog there is.

Life is much more fun when you’re well rested. That is my philosophy for many a-thing in life. The answer is always sleep, sleep and water, sleeping, water, food, repeat. Y’all have been super busy working on the front grass, ground, and land area. I watched out the windows, and well let me be honest, mainly daddy planted four new bushes out front. What are rhododendrons anyway? Why does it seem like the worlds longest word and most unusual spelling as well? Humans, always make life a little bit more complicated than need be…whoops, I guess I said that out loud. I’d apologize mama, but I’m not sorry because those are my true doggy thoughts so I’ll stick with them and smile about it. Honesty is the best policy, right?

Gentle pets from my smallest brother.

Four Hundred and Eight Paws

Dear Brothers,

Guess what? It’s a special day. Do you know what day it is? There’s a song that can go along with it! It’s daddy’s birthday! Isn’t that exciting? We had a visit from the Grammie Kathy to celebrate and we all ate lots of the human foods last night. I loved getting to romp around her, and do several paw greetings. I just love our grandparents so much. I have to lean, push, and hop around them so that they can feel my excitement. I’m getting off paw, oops, I meant to say, off task. Where was I? Hmmm. Oh yes!

So today is daddy’s birthday and we started the celebration off with some downward dog yoga, play time, pancakes, but sigh, not for me… and some more romping. I’m tuckered out, and so are you IRB. Mama helped you get started on your nap while I watched a construction video with you LDB. I thought that the trucks were to remain outside, but we have some inside, and lots of trucks in books too, and now, you have been watching a movie of trucks on the giant screen thing. I did not realize the lengths at which humans would go to demonstrate what moving wheeled objects could do. But, like my puppy mama always said, human wonders never cease. I’ll join you in our dream land now brothers.

Sweet puppy dog Kimmy.

Four Hundred and Seven Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello fellow home inhabitants. It is, your faithful companion, Kimmy dog. We have had a lot of interesting events taking place over the last two days. Mama and daddy invested in someone working on our front yard space and the entire ground was dug up, transformed, and now is being replanted. Who knew that you could do that much digging work in one day?

I remember dig, dig, digging as a puppy, but I did not do that much digging, come to think of it, now that I am a full-grown dog I don’t dig anything anymore. There are so many other things for me to think about instead for instance: keeping tabs on the yard squirrels, monitoring my number two locations, checking on the growing things in the boxes and the ground, noting where your sand trucks are located for the day, eating spiders that wander around my brothers, and a number of other doggy duties that shall remain unmentioned.

Anyway, back to the task at paw, monitoring this grassy work that’s happening out front, wow, it’s fascinating and hard labor. You’ve been doing this monitoring work with me LDB. I appreciate the extra pair of paws and eyes to keep a look out on what is transpiring. I think I might rest for a bit. I’m tuckered out from the last few hours.

Thoughtful and sweet moments.

Four Hundred and Six Paws

Dear World,

Let the sunshine in, could be our phrase to describe the last week’s weather. Yesterday however, was reminiscent of our rainy and cloudy days. I got to enjoying myself with my sun spot snoozes and porch rests in filtered tree sunlight. I was reminded of my early puppy days in the sunshine of California and I liked the warmth that was brought in. Our constantly shifting weather reminds me that all things are not indeed permanent and change is always upon us.

So, here we are in the fall filled sneeze days. I enjoy this time because so many things are falling into the garden bed. I check on it daily because the squirrels leave small footed tracks and shelled peanuts for us to uncover and dig up. I point out all of the spots to mama so that she can check on the plants. Even after I do this though, she’ll miss the message at times. I have to be patient with her. She’s easily distracted by you two tiny brothers. Whoop, better head off, I have a big day ahead of me.
