Four Hundred and Forty Four Paws

Dear Little Brothers,

Hello! It is I, Kimmy, your faithful pal and big sister. We’ve been gearing up for winter for what feels like a while now. The outside garden beds have been tilled, the hoses have been hung, the walk way has been swept, and the leaves have been recycled. The air smells a bit different now too, I get a little tingle in my nostrils when I walk around first thing in the morning before the sunshine has peeked her head out.

Mama says that winter is coming soon. I also recognized some interesting human objects up on the counter top. Do you know what a menorah is? We lit the first lights of the season last night! I also find the dreidels that you were both playing with to be quite funny. I like to try and get near the toys, but you all seemed really intent on letting them stay put, and spin. Aren’t toys meant for picking up and shaking? I know that you agree with me on this IRB. You’re really good at shaking things too! Speaking of shaking things, I wonder what you’re going to get as a Hannukah present tonight? Maybe it’ll be something we can work on together? How does that sound? Wanna share with me? If not, that’s ok, but I would really appreciate a nibble of latke and sufganiyot doughnut please!

Xo,

Kimmy

Dear LDB,

Hello there toddler. You’re in a serious throws of life called, “I want to do it myself, until I don’t want to do it myself.” I wish I could help you sometimes, but alas, I do not have opposable thumbs and I can’t always be there to help you. Occasionally I give you a little bit of herding help and scoot you up the stairs or out of the way when you’re needing some support in that way; but normally, I just give you space. I like to have my space and relax as well.

Take this moment for instance, I am relaxing on the parent’s bed and enjoying some peace and quiet during nap time. I enjoy the nap time immensely, as we have previously noted. Life’s better when we’ve all napped and relaxed. Mama says that it helps our brains and body to feel better. I couldn’t agree more. When I was a small pup I would just flop over wherever I landed and take a nap. I liked to curl up too, especially on someone’s toesies. I also like to lean into mama or daddy’s legs. I feel a sense of reassurance when I am touching someone, but in my own way that I am comfortable with. Do you know what I mean little dude? I think that you do.

Dear Kimmy,

Hi doggy! Guess what? I can stand really well now when I hold onto you. Thanks for always being my support system, even when I didn’t realize I needed one. You’re here for me and I am so grateful for you. Sometimes we share, “What are you grateful for today?” We share when we’re altogether at the table doing the food business and I just can’t help but gaze down at your sweet doggy face. I’m grateful for you Kimmy. Thanks for being my four-legged friend. I think of myself as an extension of you and mama.

Dear Little Brothers,

Hello. It is I Kimmy, back for another installment of, “What is Kimmy thinking today?” Well, what’s on my mind is: rest time. I must nap frequently these days, my little brothers take it out of me! You see, we all woke up much too early today with the rumble-rumble of the garbage truck as it drove on our little road and dumped all the goods into it’s truck. It was not our usual Mr. Gilly friend who drove it. Perhaps that’s why it was such an earlier hour than usual? Regardless of the early time, I was exhausted after our walk and thus, tried to nap early on in the day, but y’all seemed h-bent on pretending I was a horsey. Thanks LDB, and so we play, play, played. We’re all sleeping now, which, I prefer if I’m being completely honest. So, thanks mama for asking about my thoughts, but I need to take a rest and then we can get back into sharing what I’m thinking later on.

Dear World,

Hello, it is I Kimmy dog, aka, Eeyore, aka, I’m a little bit confused. I represent a lot of things to members of our family, but most of all, I am a well-loved dog representative. I’m not sure why I am called, “Eeyore,” but I love that brother gives me attention. I heard the words, “Ho-hum,” quite a bit when the Eeyore character came on the music show with Winnie the Pooh. Honestly, I just like being included, maybe that’s why I have that nick name now. Well, speaking of feeling included, I’m getting a bit tired from all of the walk, snack, and play time business we did this morning. I’m exhausted. Mama gave me a nice blanket to rest on, so rest I shall.

Dear Kimmy,

Hello there my little Eeyore. I renamed all of our family members so that we have the same names as the characters in, “Winnie the Pooh.” I of course am Winnie the Pooh, IRB is Piglet, Mama is Rabbit, because she likes to be in charge of things, and daddy is Tigger because I love how he makes me laugh like Tigger does in my show. You like to rest and be alone like Eeyore, so it seemed like a natural fit for you to represent that friend. I love you my little Eeyore doggy.

Dear Kimmy,

Hiiii! You make me laugh puppy dog sister. I love you so much! That’s why I like to pull myself up onto you and stand with you, and then walk. You make me feel safe and loved, especially so because we spend a lot of time together on the ground. You’re my ground dwelling buddy. I heard mama say that once so I thought I would say it too! I’m going to meet you at the red slide during our nap time. Remember our dream play time? I like that a lot, we romp, run, and slide, it’s the best. Thanks for being my paw buddy Kimmy. I love you!

Dear Brothers,

Hello littles. All I have to say is that: gosh I love you both so much! We’ve had some really nice neighborhood walks every morning with the parents. I love the outdoor smells and having both of you by my side. Thank you for all of the love and support littles.

I would be remiss if I did not say thank you, on this Veteran’s Day to all of the veterans who have served. I know my Grandpa J. and my daddy A. best, so thank you, to you two, whom I know so well.

Four Hundred and Thirty Seven Paws

Dear Brothers,

Greetings, from nap dream land, hello dear ones! I just have to say first off that, I love you both so much! I truly do appreciate your shenanigans and personalities every day. You both are silly, sweet, and kind. There are occasional moments where I’m a little bit unsure of your choices, but that’s all a part of life isn’t it? Life is messy and silly and that’s definitely true with both of you.

Today mama and I investigated the Cadillac car’s, “bark dust,” bath, as you put it LDB. I’m not so sure why it needed a bark dust bath versus a traditional bath, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you made that up toddler kiddo. You’re full of fascinating ideas about moving dirt, and rocks, and all of the toys into the backyard pool. You name it, you create it and I watch you do it. Daddy said you had a fun time playing and you wanted to share the work that you’d done. Well, I gotta’ go and manage slide time in dream land.

Four Hundred and Thirty Six Paws

Dear Brothers,

Greetings dear ones. It is I, Kimmy, your faithful dog sister, or should that be sitter? Hmmm, the jury is still out on that one. Haha! We had such an adventure together this morning. On our morning walk I started off by trying to pretend IRB was in a sled and I was his huskey dog and thus, I had to, “mush!”

Although, dad wasn’t into that story line and did not understand my need for speed to pull him down the street. He quickly brought me back to his side, and I brought my mind back to the current moment at paw. I enjoyed our walk in the neighborhood and didi not think about the mountain slopes of Alaska anymore. I would like the record to state that I am quite a knowledgeable canine and I would enjoy an adventure north one day!

Momma, did you hear that? Let’s go back and visit your land of origin in the wild lands of the Yukon. One time I heard Grandpa J talk about that land and it sounded quite exciting. That is why I thought I would act out some adventures on my walk today, but alas, it was not the right time.

Just a couple of buddies hanging out together, “Did anyone hear him say mush?!”
