Three Hundred and Ninety Five Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello, greetings, good morning. I am currently sending mama messages while eating my breakfast. You’re both snoozing still. I love to see you sleeping because you’re like two tiny human angels and you’re in matching moon jammies. There is nothing quite like a sleeping baby and cute pajama prints. I love your sweet faces too.

I took a quick whiff smell outside this morning and I have deducted that, it feels as though the rain might be coming back to greet us. I was so hoping that the sunshine would stay put for a while. I think you might have been too LDB. You have been going on two neighborhood bike rides a day, burning off all of that excess energy you have in your toddler body. I love our family walks in the sunny weather as well. There’s nothing quite like parading my pack down the street for all of my doggy neighbor friends to admire. I wag my tail extra hard on those walks because I feel so proud.

I’m planning on an average of fifteen naps today, give or take a couple less if I’m interrupted. I may start early to meet my goal this morning. Sometimes I sneak in one or two naps before you really start, “the romp and crawl,” around the house little ones. I’m currently smacking my jowls in the other room listening to mama type this all out. She does pretty well to keep up with my thoughts. She’s a good scribe, she aspires to be helpful with my blog.

Kimmy

Wrestling the tiniest human. Spoiler alert: he won.

Three Hundred and Ninety Four Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello, testing, 1, 2, 3, are you both asleep? Oh good, ok we can start mama. I’m here with an update on the animals of the house. Something is wrong with Owen fish-fish. Now, I don’t want to alarm anyone, but he’s been sleeping for days in his castle. Then daddy cleaned his tank, he seemed to be swimming around alright for a while and now, he is lying about more on the bottom of the tank. Mama and daddy have been discussing his lack of activity and I have been listening, whilst lying on the couch in my blankets. Perhaps it’s bladder disease or something else. Mama has a history of sad fish tails or is that tales to tell, so this is a sensitive topic for her.

Once upon a time, before Kimmy, there was a giant fish tank and two cute fish, Hermie and Kermie. Well, one of the fishes got itself sucked into the filter, that was traumatizing, according to mama. Then there was Kermie 1 and Kermie 2 who arrived shortly after the fish sucking incident. But, Kermie 2 had a bit of a ferocious side and pecked, nibbled, and ate Kermie 1. Mama took him to be flushed, but alas Kermie 1 didn’t make it. This was all a bit too much for her heart so that was the end of life with fishes for momma and daddy until Owen. You see, Owen was gifted to LDB from our big Cousin Kate. We love her a lot, she went to the college place in the fall and LDB took care of the fish. But, as I have been trying to tell mama, sometimes fishes don’t live forever. She doesn’t want to hear this though. I’m exhausted again after telling that whole story. I think I shall retire again for nap 1 of the day.

I love you too mama.

Three Hundred and Ninety Three Paws

Dear Brothers,

I think today is a special day because we are reaching a big number of letters that mama and I have written. So, with this all being said, I’m going to write a special list of all the things I am so grateful for. I have done this once before, and I kind of like lists, ha, mama’s influence on me, so here goes:

  1. Our pack aka our family.
  2. My cozy couch and floor beds. (Note that was plural)
  3. Running free in the sunshine.
  4. Getting hugs and cuddles from my brothers, momma, and daddy.
  5. Peanut butter, on anything.
  6. Banana bits and bites.
  7. My doggy foods.
  8. Talking to Owen fish-fish in the tank.
  9. Snoozing on and off whenever I need to.
  10. Listening to stories while cuddled up on the couch.
  11. Winter paw prints in the snow.
  12. Warm blankets.
  13. Quiet mornings with mama cuddled up next to me clicking away.
  14. Finding a loose crumb while cleaning around the table.
  15. Getting nibbles while the big humans cook.
  16. Daisy dog cousin romps.
  17. Grandparent loves.
  18. Family walks around our neighborhood.
  19. Catching the gaze of a squirrel and frolicking with them.
  20. Lying in the grass on a sunny day with the breeze in my face.

Hanging by my brother.

Three Hundred and Ninety Two Paws

Dear Brothers,

The. Sunshine. Is Truly HERE! Oh my goodness, my doggy paws couldn’t be happier. What can I say? I just love the warmth that the sunshine provides. There’s been so much heaviness this past year that I can hardly believe we have made it from winter to spring and now summer. Yesterday I laid out on the grass and the patio for a bit of time and just, enjoyed. I enjoyed the breeze, and the tickle of the grass on my nose. I enjoyed the feeling of the sunshine warming my back, but not at a burning hot state. Life just feels better when I am immersed in the sunshine. Littlest dude took in some sunshine with mama on a blanket in the front yard. I watched you both from the window, out our peek-a-boo window and I jumped to the side when they came inside. Now you’re on a big adventure bike ride LDB and I miss you. I am keeping mama and sleeping IRB company. I look out the window and watch the parking lot cars. I also watch the squirrels and birds pass by. It’s a whole exciting activity from the window realm. But, back to what I was saying, the sunshine, has returned. YAY!

Lounging out the rest of these summer days.

Three Hundred and Ninety One Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello there. Would you like to know something unusual? I guess I should explain a little bit more about what I mean by, unusual. So, here goes, I am an unusual dog. I work hard to concentrate and understand my human pack members emotions. You are all complex beings with a lot of feelings that shift over time. Sometimes you and IRB take turns with your feelings shifting back and forth with a range of things to say. Whenever I change positions and move closer to one of you, it is to help ease your emotions that you’re working through. My favorite unusual characteristic, or I guess I could say super dog power is the fact that I can, “lean into,” my humans to help absorb their feelings. It’s a big job at times, no one really knows how a dog does it, but we, err, I do! I love you all ever so much.

Little brother cuddles for me.

Three Hundred and Ninety Paws

Dear Brothers,

Shhhh, do you hear that? That’s the sound of the first bird of the morning. Those flighty winged friends like to sing first thing in the morning. I especially enjoy the morning time because the air is cool, the scents flow freely in the breeze, and all is quiet on the neighborhood front. I like to watch the light shift and begin to brighten up.

But, alas, the squirrels began to stir and here I am staring them down from the window pane. Lately those little buggers have been disturbing the peace of our garden boxes. One even went so far as to pull not one but two tulip flower heads off of their stems and gnaw on them… the nerve! Mama was pretty frustrated about that. You know she waits and waits for those tulips to grow, it’s one of her favorite things in the world, the garden and the spring flowers. I get it, I’m a spring pup, I grew and grew like those flowers so that I could one day come home and be with you two.

All cuddled up with dreamland to go to!

Three Hundred and Eighty Nine Paws

Dear Brothers,

One time I heard mama say the following, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Mama also says that I am her lemonade from 2016. Speaking of such things, my birthday is coming up! Did you both know that? We’re not exactly sure when my precise birth date is, but we like to say that it is twelve weeks before my gotcha’ date of July 19, so that makes it April 19. I like April. It’s a month you know… it brought me and my sister’s into the world and then later, to you all. I actually landed here on this planet before either of you did! Isn’t that cool? I think it’s cool because I found my way to mama and daddy, and then they found their way to having both of you. I think I helped the process along because I was such a great puppy doggy that they wanted another puppy, aka you brothers. When you were both in mama’s belly I would sniff, boop, and lean into you guys so that you’d know that someone was looking out for you and waiting for you to come and play. You’ve both been my loving companions thus far and I appreciate that. We’re together, but not alone, I like that.

Three Hundred and Eighty Eight Paws

Dear Brothers,

Hello there dear ones! Sometimes, in a dog’s short life on this earth, we get lucky. By lucky I mean the following, we find those that we’re supposed to love and be loved by. I know this to be true because I’m living it each day with all of you. You’re my human pack, you’re my people, and I rest easy and snooze knowing I’m loved. Thanks for loving me today, and every day. Always your faithful doggy sister over here ready to play or cuddle, just watch the paws ok? No touching the paws baby-I.

Why is there an outdoor bath mama?

Three Hundred and Eighty Six Paws

Dear Brothers,

Spring is here and summer is next! Our garden is growing right before our eyes. We have tulips and daffodils that are springing up. One of the daffodils has progressively bloomed more and more each day. I like to walk over to it and touch the tip of my nose to the soft curled petals. Sometimes I sniff or inhale, but mostly I nose, “boop,” it. I love to watch things grow, as do you LDB and IRB.

Mama and daddy encourage us to talk to our garden. We say things like, “Grow, grow, grow plants! Or wow, keep growing!” I say that to each of you when we say good night. I’m not sure if you both get the message, but I like to think that you do when I lean in and push my body up against yours, or if I’m able to get in a little lick kiss. I love you both so much. You keep growing and growing. IRB you’ve been very interested in my paws, nails, and legs lately. Occasionally I’m alright with the touches on my paws. Other days, I am not so fond of leg pulls, so I get up and walk away slowly to make sure that you’re still sitting or pushing up safely. I appreciate all of the attention, however, just like what mama has said, “Let’s let Kimmy’s paws be little one.”
